‘We get by with help from our friends’

The Elkhart General Emergency Room nursing team recently suffered the loss of a beloved colleague and friend who had worked in the emergency room for 17 years. As soon as members of the Memorial Hospital Emergency Department heard the news, they jumped into action to provide support to their fellow Beacon nurses. They sent over pizza for the staff. They created handmade blue ribbons for the Elkhart General ER nurses to wear in remembrance of their colleague. Shelby Morse promoted to new Beacon role

A tireless advocate for patient safety and quality, Shelby Morse, RN, MSN, Executive Director of Quality and Case Management at Elkhart General Hospital, was recently promoted to a new, system-level position as Beacon Director of Utilization and Case Management. Shelby’s responsibilities have grown and now include utilization review, case management, discharge planning and social services for both Elkhart General and Memorial Hospital.
